Travelling to and from the venue

We had originally planned to provide shuttle transportation to and from the centre of Saint-Émilion, but with many of our guests staying in surrounding villages we are moving to Plan B.

We want everyone to enjoy the celebration to the fullest! To ensure you can toast, dance, and celebrate without worry, we kindly ask that you arrange for a taxi to and from the venue. Let’s keep the dance floor full and the roads safe!

Please arrive for 13:30, and we hope you can dance with us until 02:00!

Whilst Uber operates in the area, we strongly recommend you book a taxi in advance, to avoid any bad surprises.

Travelling to Saint-Émilion

The venue for the wedding is: Chateau Flojague, 33350 Saint-Genès-de-Castillon, France.

For ease and to fully immerse yourselves in the magic of Saint-Émilion, we strongly suggest finding accommodation in or around Saint-Émilion rather than Bordeaux.

Travelling from Bordeaux on the day of the wedding would take over an hour.

Please find more details on staying in Saint-Émilion on the accommodation page.

Getting to Saint-Emilion from Bordeaux

By Car

Car rental is available from both Bordeaux airport and the city centre.

Driving offers flexibility, but be mindful of traffic and parking in Saint-Émilion.

Journey Time: The drive typically takes around 40-50 minutes without significant traffic. However, it can easily extend to over an hour during rush hour or peak tourist times.

Route: The most common route involves taking the N89 or D936 out of Bordeaux towards Libourne, and then following signs to Saint-Émilion. You can use GPS or mapping apps for precise directions.

Tolls: Some routes may involve tolls, but generally, the direct route is not heavily tolled.

Parking in Saint-Émilion: Parking within the medieval village is very restricted. Most parking is in designated car parks on the outskirts.

Paid Parking: Most central car parks are paid (e.g., €2 per hour, maximum 5 hours). Be sure to check signs for operating hours and fees.

Free Parking: Some free car parks exist slightly further out (e.g., near the Gendarmerie or the train station), but these fill up quickly, especially during high season.

Walking to the Village: From most car parks, you will have a walk to the heart of the village, often involving uphill sections on cobblestone streets.

Recommendation: If driving, we strongly advise arriving early to secure a parking spot and allow ample time for the walk into the village. Consider using mobile parking apps like PayByPhone or FlowBird if available, for easier payment.

By Train

Taking the train is generally the quickest way to reach Saint-Émilion from Bordeaux.

Departure Station: Trains to Saint-Émilion depart from Bordeaux Saint-Jean train station (Gare Saint-Jean). This is Bordeaux's main train hub and is well-connected by tram and bus within the city.

Arrival Station: You will arrive at Saint-Émilion train station.

Journey Time: Direct trains typically take around 31-35 minutes.

Frequency: Trains run regularly, often hourly, throughout the day.

Cost: Tickets usually range from €7 - €17 one-way, but can be cheaper if booked in advance.

Booking: We recommend booking your tickets in advance, especially during peak season, through the SNCF Connect website or app, or at the station.

Important Note: The Saint-Émilion train station is located about 1.5 km (just under a mile) from the historic village center. This is roughly a 15-20 minute uphill walk. While walkable, consider this if you have luggage or prefer not to walk in warmer weather. Taxis or local shuttle services may be available from the station, but it's wise to check in advance.
